Sports massage is best utilised as a preventative approach to injury as oppose to waiting until you are injured. You can have treatment for a specific injury, but a regular sports massage could have prevented that injury happening in the first place.

What is the difference between a Sports Massage and a therapeutic beauty massage?

Deep tissue massage is often administered as a full body massage, rather than focusing on a specific area of the body. Sports massage, on the other hand, is a targeted massage approach that focuses on specific areas of the body that are in need of healing or relief.

What are the benefits of Sports Massage?

  • Increased joint range of motion (ROM)

  • Increased flexibility.

  • Increased sense of well-being.

  • Decreased muscle tension.

  • Decreased neurological activity, (nerves more relaxed)

  • Decreased muscle spasms.

  • Better sleep.

Can sports massage be painful?

It is not to say you won't feel pressure during a sports massage. While sports massages aren't typically supposed to hurt, you may experience some tenderness and discomfort, especially if I am working on an area that's already injured, sore, or tight.

How will I feel after a sports massage?

Your muscles may be a little sore afterwards, especially the first time as they may not be used to being massaged. Sports Massage can release toxins stored in your muscles into your bloodstream, and it is not uncommon for clients who do not drink plenty of water to feel a slight headache or very thirsty later that day. With 24-48 hours you should really start to notice a difference.

How often should I have a sports massage?

Most elite athletes get at least one massage per week. For most amateur athletes who still take their sport and training seriously or regular gym-goers, once a week to once a fortnight is recommended. For most people who do regular light exercise once every two, three or four weeks is usually sufficient.
